Profile

Emilie is certified by the American Mountain Guides Association as a Rock, Alpine and Ski Guide and licensed internationally by the IFMGA/ UIAGM as an American Mountain Guide. She has been a climbing guide & instructor since 2001, shortly after graduating from St. Lawrence University (B.A. Anthropology/African Studies). In addition to Cloudsplitter Mountain Guides, she works with Alpine Ascents International, Exum Mountain Guides, Chicks Climbing and Skiing, and the American Avalanche Institute.

A former Division I Nordic ski athlete and two-time Lake Placid Ironman triathlete, Emilie is best at long, slow endurance adventures and the discomforts of alpine climbing. Which is not to say that she doesn't also enjoy sunny rock climbing and spring skiing!

Her resume includes climbing and skiing from the small, rugged mountains of the Northeast to the world’s biggest mountain ranges in Alaska, the Karakoram, and the Hindu Kush. In 2012, alongside a crew of American Alpine Club all-stars who won the Piolet d’Or for their alpine style first ascent of Saser Kangri II (7600m), Emilie climbed several first ascents in the Indian Karakoram as part of an Indo-American expedition. In 2015 Emilie co-guided the first team of Afghan women mountain climbers to ascents of three new 5000+m peaks in the Hindu Kush mountains of Afghanistan.
